 How to do pranayamam?

Prananayamam means to control over breathing. Use yoga mat or blanket or bed sheet for sure. Place it on the floor and peacefully sit on that. Those who are able to sit in padmasanam can carry with that. Those who are not able to sit in padmasanam can sit normally. By sitting properly, put your head and body exactly straight. After that place your hands on knees by putting you hands at chinmudra. Chinmudra means to join your thumb finger and index finger by showing palm upside. And place hands on knees. On this pose, be peaceful and without any thoughts sit for a minute. And start pranayamam.

Process of pranayamam.

There are two holes at our nose. These holes are interacted with as, left with chandragraham and the right with suryagraham. To close left nossil with right hand  index finger. And to close right nossil, use thumb finger of right hand. In that time left hand should be at chinmudra.

  • Firstly release out all the air in the lungs quickly. Complete blown should be blown out. Then close right nossil with thumb finger and soo slowly in a complete slow motion take breathe in with left nossil by closing right nossil. This process is called as purakam (à°ªూà°°à°•ం)
  • With ring finger, close the left nossil (it is better to join little finger with ring finger) and release the air in lungs by slow process and it should take the double time than breathe in process. This process is called as rechakam (à°°ేà°šà°•ం)
  • Repeatedly continue this process by inhalation (breath in) and exhalation (breathe out).
But while completing one set of breathe in and breathe out, one pranayamam will be done. You can do this as much time as you can. Depending on you stability, you may do a couple of times hardly. By doing this daily, you will be able to do freely after a week you will able to do more times. This pranayamam is also called as anuloma viloma pranayamam or leka nadi suddhi pranayamam. If the time taken to complete purakam (inhalation) , one minute. Then it should take 2 minutes to complete rechakam (exhalation). At starting it will be difficult to do and can't maintain the time ratio. But by some well practice, even after few days you can feel better
